WHY PHOTO CHALLENGE?

Pro tip: Photo Challenge is the puzzle that gets people talking. Every photo prompts a "I remember when..." moment, and the printed cards become keepsakes long after the event.

Still deciding which format suits your event? Our guide to [wedding photo games](https://puzzlebuilder.co/blog/wedding-photo-games-beyond-i-spy/) compares ten of them — I Spy cards, scavenger hunts, guess-the-year rounds — and shows where each one fits in the day.

PERFECT FOR EVERY OCCASION

### One Tool. Endless Occasions.

If you have the photos, you have a game.

#### Wedding & Engagement

Photos of the couple as kids, their first vacation together, the proposal location, the venues you considered — guests guess each one and discover your story photo by photo.

#### Baby & Bridal Shower

Baby photos of the parents-to-be, ultrasound images, nursery items, sentimental locations — an activity that doubles as a memory book and gets guests laughing together.

#### Birthday Party

Decades of photos — baby pictures, school photos, travel memories, life milestones. A milestone birthday becomes a slideshow guests participate in instead of just watching.

#### Classroom

Historical figures, geographic landmarks, scientific diagrams, art masterpieces — turn any visual subject into a recognition game with answer boxes that double as a worksheet.

#### Team Building

Childhood photos of teammates ("guess who"), product launches over the years, office pets, company landmarks — an icebreaker that builds genuine connection.

#### Just for Fun

Family reunions, retirement parties, "guess the celebrity" nights, holiday gatherings — any moment where photos can spark recognition, laughter, and friendly competition.

Your Photos

### Built from Pictures You Already Love

Upload photos from your phone, your camera roll, or that shared family album. A wedding portrait. A baby's first steps. Your office mascot. For each photo, you set the answer guests need to type — a name, a place, a year, an inside joke. The challenge is yours, end to end.

### A Grid That Fits Any Card Size

Choose how your photos are arranged: pick the number of rows (1 to 5) and items per row (1 to 5), then hit Apply Grid Layout. Customize the spacing between photos, the slot styling, and how answer lines appear — choose between a clean line or a row of letter boxes for guests to fill in. There are 13 print sizes, from 5×7 cards to large-format posters. Premium templates, 100+ fonts and hundreds of graphics are open before you buy.

Online Play

### Tap, Type, Compete

Publish your Photo Challenge and share the link. Guests tap any photo to open an answer panel, type their guess letter by letter, and see instantly if they're right — correct answers light up green, incorrect ones flash red. A live leaderboard tracks who solves the most photos fastest. Online play and the live leaderboard unlock with any package.

Print & Export

### Print-Ready Downloads

Before you buy, download a watermarked preview to check the result. When you're ready, any package unlocks the print-ready PDF for professional printing and a high-resolution PNG for quick sharing. Toggle Show Answers in the builder to preview the solved version before exporting. Printed cards become party favors guests want to keep long after the event ends.

FAQ

### Frequently Asked Questions

Which parts can I use before paying?

You can open the builder, upload your photos, set the answers, lay out the grid and download a watermarked preview without paying anything. This isn't a free plan or a trial — it's there so you can see the product before you decide. A package unlocks the watermark-free print files and online publishing with scoring and leaderboard. You pay once, for that occasion, and every purchase is covered by a 14-day refund. See [Pricing](https://puzzlebuilder.co/pricing/) for the full breakdown.

How many photos can I include?

The grid supports up to 5 rows of 5 photos — that's a maximum of 25 photos per card. For most events, 8 to 12 photos hits the sweet spot: enough variety to keep things interesting, short enough to play in a few minutes between courses or activities.

Why doesn't the Photo Challenge have AI generation?

Because the photos are already yours. Unlike a crossword or word search, where the AI helps generate clues from a description, a Photo Challenge starts with the pictures you upload. You set the answer for each one — a name, a place, a single word. The personalization comes from your album, not from an algorithm.

What does the answer look like for guests?

For printed cards, you choose between a clean answer line under each photo or a row of letter boxes (one per character of the answer) that guests fill in. For online play, guests tap any photo to open an answer panel and type letter by letter — correct answers light up green and incorrect ones flash red so they know instantly if they got it.

How does it look on mobile?

On wide screens, guests see your grid laid out exactly as you designed it. On mobile, the grid is replaced with a swipeable slider plus a thumbnail strip — one photo fills the screen at a time so each one gets the spotlight, and tapping any thumbnail jumps right to it.

What kinds of photos work best?

Photos with a clear, recognizable subject work best — a face, an object, a place, a moment. The answer should be a single word or short phrase guests can type quickly. Avoid photos that are too similar to each other (it gets confusing) and skip ones where the answer would require typing a full sentence.

Can guests play on their phones?

Yes. Publish your Photo Challenge and share the link — guests open it directly in their browser, no app needed. Online play unlocks with any package. The mobile slider makes it comfortable to play one-handed during a dinner or party, and the live leaderboard shows who's finding the most answers fastest.
